Training a Dragon Blood Tree as a 每日吃瓜 was created by justiniadonisi

Hi Yall,
I have purchased a couple of dracaena draco trees, also known as Dragon Blood trees. They are very young, arriving at a height of 6-10." I would like to attempt to train one of these trees as a bonsai, and I'm sure its possible since I have seen photos of them. Does anyone with training experience have any suggestions for how to accomplish this feat? Just to be clear (and hopefully not too redundant), its a non-bonsai tree that I wish to train; it is NOT a young, pre-trained bonsai tree.

Thanks for any help! Cheers!

Well, I gave Google a chance to show me some some great bonsai from this species.
"Google Images: dracaena draco bonsai"
The results showed not even one good bonsai with this plant.
Could you post here the examples (pictures) that inspired you?
:-) Thanks!

so, far too young (I assume) to start training. Or is it......?

Thanks!

I don't know how one can reduce leaf size on this species so drastically. Maybe over two or three decades, I guess!
Anyway, yours is way too young to start training; roots and leaves as far as I could see.

Thank you for your responses!
So then, I will grow it as normal for a while until it develops a trunk and some branches...then, I'll be back.

Good luck, and don't let it die.

You guys are right, it doesn't look like being of the same species. Size and shape of the leaves are sooo different!
