I would guess that watering with lukewarm water & adding a bit of fertilizer could also help. But some just do not grow like the wild JM.
Thanks LB! It’s ok, I never watering with cold water. I have a mild, solid fertilizer, I’ll dissolve in water and give if you think it’s ok.
I just loosened up a tiny bit the outer part of the rootball and planted it in a larger, shallower pot. Now I know what to look for, but when I purchased I didn’t saw the signs. Lesson learned. Hopefully in the next year it’ll thrive.

The branch tried to leaf out in mid October, while the rest of the tree gone dormant. We got warm weather this time, and I believe I misplaced the thing. When spring came, all the new roots was dead and half sprouted zombie like buds hanging on the branch...
Maybe it’s not an easy rooter species, but I’ve found a blog /Credit : Robert Nocher/ where the man did an amazing job with one. The only thing, that he waited two years before he detached it.
Mine is a smaller tree, but I also took a different approach on this year’s experiment. It is much healthier now than it was at 2018, so I hope we’ll pull out well.

..and got some mutant seeds here and there...

Well, it would be great if you explained what exactly is this new approach you've been trying with this beauty of yours.
And of course I loved the mutations!

Sure! Instead of the past year where I used a small bag, this time I use a plastic pot, maybe with 3 times of the volume of sphagnum what I used before. It will be easier to keep the humidity in balance. Now I also used some algae powder as rooting aid.
The pot wrapped firstly with cling film and topped with aluminum foil to get better weather protection for the warmer months.
After fall I’ll keep it more in the shade where just morning sun can reach, also with more isolation around the air layering to prevent sudden temperature fluctuations on the new roots.
I aim to keep like this maybe for 16 months, but the tree will tell when it’s ready (If I don’t mess it up again... )
Even with all of my attention, I’m not sure if I can be successful with this cultivar.. Really sensitive... If not, I must find a solution for that bad looking rootstock.
Yes, strange samaras
