I bought one of those starter kits online recently as I wanted to get into the art of bonsai but never knew how. I didn't want to jump right into it so I thought I'd go to the very beginning.
I researched a little and started by placing the seeds in some warm water and leaving them for a few days before going further. The problem is that I came down this morning after setting them up the night before and only one of the four types of seeds actually sunk. (Scots pine have sunk, they are the far left)
But I am unsure if this is because the others are small/ have a weird shape causing them to float, or this is just simply they are all not worth taking further. I will attach an image below showing the seeds.
If they simply are not viable, would someone be able to show me a few places I can buy seeds/ where is best to buy them (I live in the UK)
Many thanks

hey welcome.
Unsure. Not all seeds that do not sink are dead. I do not sort seeds; I just go through the process and plant them. THen I see what shows up.
Getting "bonsai starter sets" is not such a great idea. THey are only a nodge above a scam. They are just regular treeseeds, wtih an elevated price. Just go to any tree seeds dealer. Sheffield is a reputable one I have used in the past (Based in USA I think).
For the species you have there, consider asking around in a club for young plants. (I would in any case recommend having some plants to work on, and not only work on seeds. Growing from seed is counted in decades..).

Okay cheers, I have been given small pots as well, the generic ones most kits give out, about a few inches in width and length and then 3 in depth. How many seeds should I sow in each one? Or stick with one per pot?
