Thanks! I did end up removing one more branch after the photo, I really would like to repot it in a more suitable pot but I probably should give it some time as not to over stress the tree after cutting so much.

Nothing wrong with the pot, maybe too deep. I would leave it now until spring, gives you time to find suitable pot

Yes, designwice a more shallow pot would be better. At the same time care is harder and development slower. I would keep it in that size pot for quite a while for the sake of the tree.
