Tropical tree kit update. was created by Photosynthesis

Last September I said I would let you know if my seedlings from my tropical bonsai kit from Amazon survived till spring, and 2 out of the 7 survived. The two that survived were the Delonix Regia and the Jacaranda. The Locust and Spruce were outside and they survived winter. They were still green in early spring but died a few weeks later. The Albizia, Mimosa pudica and Lemon seedlings were all kept indoors and died. I think the problem was they were all too young before winter came just like everybody on here said. The Jacaranda and Delonix regia grew really fast, so that's probably why they survived. They are doing well indoors, I have never brought them outside. They have 2 humidifiers that run from morning till night, a fan that blows on them overnight for airflow, grow lights, and they sit by an East window. I also keep the door shut to my room so the air conditioner can't cool the room, so it is around 80 to 85 °F. The only problem is the Delonix Regia has yellow bumps on the leaflets which eventually turn the whole leaflet yellow and then the whole leaf turns yellow and drops off. It started this year, last year it had no problems.

Those are both deciduous species, they're not from temperate climate, but lower tropical or sub-tropical climate...
So you won't be able to keep it alive or healthy in a long term indoors the whole year, unless that by "indoor" we are talking about a proper greenhouse.
I'm also telling you that, because the leaves on a deciduous tree does not have a long lifespan, they were not supose to stay on tree for too long, so it's a matter of time until they start yellowing and fall.
That's why it is important for them to grow well during the hot seasons, so it can have energy to sprout back next spring.

So... I think you can have it outside during the growing season, and move to a safer spot once it starts to get dormant,?but before frost gets it!

By "indoor" I am talking about my bedroom. Last fall my room was around 60°F and both of them lost almost all of their leaves and they quit growing until April. So, is 60°F in the winter and 80°F in the summer a big enough temperature change for them to survive long term?

Also, the yellowing and spotting of the leaves started in June. I have tried letting the soil dry out longer, I held back on fertilizer for a month, I gave it calcium and magnesium, I have checked for pests, but because they are indoors I don't think that's the problem. So I am running out of ideas of what could be wrong with it. The Jacaranda is right next to it and growing just fine.

Why don't you put it outside if you have access to that?
Like I said, you can have it outside during the growing season, and move in to a safer spot once it starts to get dormant, before frost gets it.

It's not just about the temperature in your room, that's just a factor, they NEED sunlight.
Fertilize won't help if the tree can't metabolize it.

For decidious trees it is easy to see if the temperature drop is enough in authum. That is when they drop their leafs. Sinze you say they have not dropped leafs it is safe to say that the temperature drop was not enough. Now the leafs are old and ineficient and the tree is dropping them in panic when it needs them the most.

Pests problems is much more common indoors than outdoors. Pests are everywhere and prefere weak trees. Trees kept indoors is always weak.

The reason I don't move them outside is because I have the same two trees outside, and they are not nearly has healthy as the indoor trees. Plus, I bought these trees specifically for my room I already have a lot of plants & trees outside. The pests are really bad outdoors, pesticides just scorch the leaves even though I spray it at night. The only pest I have indoor are fungus gnats, which I got rid of with mosquito dunks. I have really nice grow lights plus a window so I am pretty sure light is not the problem. I am by no means trying to be rude, I am just frustrated. Thank you for your help, I know that trees natural habitat is outdoors and that is were you grow yours, but I love plants a lot and having them in my room makes me happy. I am trying to give them everything they need to feel like they are in their natural habitat. I know it will never be perfect trying to grow trees indoors but I am trying. If the only problem I have is yellow spots on the leaves of one plant, then I think I am doing pretty good.

I said they dropped almost all of their leaves last fall and quit growing until April. Then in April they started growing really fast and healthy. The yellow leaves I am talking about now are different. They are yellow bumps on the delonix regia leaflets. This started in June of this year. It either has yellow bumps or a yellow marbled look before the whole leaf drops off. Thank you for helping me.?

Okey...
I was just asking why don't you put outside... Most people try to keep them inside because they can't have it outside, and that would solve many problems and struggling trees that show up around here, sometimes too late.
So if you want to keep them inside, go ahead, I don't have any problem with that.

Most people don't even realize those are deciduous species, just because they're tropical, and I was just passing that to you, and Tropical deciduous trees don't "behave" exactly as Temperate deciduous trees, but still important for the tree to "perceive" the seasons.
And if you think you don't need that info, just discard it. I won't mind.??

Just to complement on what I said about dormancy not just being about temperature, more important than that, trees also use the photoperiod to determine the time of year, days get shorter in fall, so the trees start to prepare for dormancy, and once spring aproaches you'll have more daylight time so they'll sprout back, temperature and temp. gradient works as a second cue...
