The title says it all - can Chinese Elm be grown indoors? I've had various sources give conflicting information. What's the general consensus?

I checked out the sticky post and the bonsai empire care guide as well. 每日吃瓜 is one of the sources that said Chinese Elm can grow indoors. I'm looking for a couple more expert opinions to try and assess the situation more accurately.

Actually sticky post looks not sticky just recently changed (the one that says newbies etc). Also some sources say it can do well indoors some say it will die after a couple years.

Now I don't grow anything inside, not even a Ficus.
I sincerely think "indoors bonsai" is a myth in the long run. Some trees can make it for two or three years, but none can thrive inside.

Can? Yes.
Should? No.

Will it become a bonsai: Not unless you make serious investments. It is just not the right place to grow plants. Hardly any plant does well indoors. Most are just surviving. For bonsai they need to thrive.
