Hi everyone! I decided to try my luck and get into bonsai care! Stopped by a local nursery and bought this child and quickly realized how unprepared and confused I am.
I want the trunk to grow and encourage nebari growth. Given that it's in a cheap bonsai pot, can I do some uppotting and place it in a larger container for training?

Pot looks big enough for a year or 2.
I would give it a prune tho, looks very bush like at the moments.
This could encourage trunk growth by removing some unwanted foliage/branches.

One of the design goals should be a thick trunk. If it were mine I would put it in the biggest pot possible outside and let it grow as much as it will. The ground might be a good place since you won't find a bigger pot.

Would any large pot (with drainage holes) do?
