Posted 5 years 1 month ago #59367I have bought my first bonsai from our local nursery today, and I would like to know if I should fertilise it now or on a later stage.

Posted 5 years 1 month ago #59399New growth that you dont want to keep can be cut during the growth season. Big branches is better to cut i authum when growth slowed down.
The best place for your Elm is outside.

Posted 5 years 1 month ago #59401If you want to follow the aesthetically-pleasing classical bonsai lines then there are a couple of fundamental "mistakes" in this tree. 1. The trunk is straight (no "movement") and 2. The branches are exactly opposite one another. At this stage of its growth, both "mistakes" can be corrected without much trouble/effort.homosapin wrote: .... how do you think I should work this tree for the future? ..... So what can I do to ensure it becomes better in the future? What kind of long-term plan do you envision with this?
Thanks a lot for your time!

Posted 5 years 1 month ago #59403I think you have made 2 posts re. the same tree. And in both cases inside another existing thread.
On this forum we prefer it if people make a separate post for their own tree. And probably just one thread for one tree, also if you have multiple questions
