Hmmm, that sounds intriguing. I might need to look into it!

How old is the pictured specimen?

Hi there

I have bought my first bonsai from our local nursery today, and I would like to know if I should fertilise it now or on a later stage.

When should I start pruning my bonsai, should I move the bonsai to my window sill or leave it on my drawer.

You prune when you know why and how you want the tree to look.

New growth that you dont want to keep can be cut during the growth season. Big branches is better to cut i authum when growth slowed down.

The best place for your Elm is outside.

Thanks a lot for your time!

If you want to follow the aesthetically-pleasing classical bonsai lines then there are a couple of fundamental "mistakes" in this tree. 1. The trunk is straight (no "movement") and 2. The branches are exactly opposite one another. At this stage of its growth, both "mistakes" can be corrected without much trouble/effort.

Hi Pierre,

I think you have made 2 posts re. the same tree. And in both cases inside another existing thread.
On this forum we prefer it if people make a separate post for their own tree. And probably just one thread for one tree, also if you have multiple questions :)
