Hello guys,
I have always been interested in everything about bonsai but have never gotten the time to really pour myself into it.
Then last week I got gifted my first bonsai, a chinese liguste (at least I hope it is).
Since then some leaves have turned brownish and dried out. Additionaly the grounds surface turned white.
Is that some kind of fungus and what would be the proper treatment?
Thank you very much and sorry for any mistakes, since english isn't my mother tongue

first off tree should be outside. so i hope it was only indoors for the picture. sometimes trees may stress a little when moved to a new location so it might need to adjust to its new environment. looks like calcium build up to me. do you have hard water?

The water is fine. If you mean it is ligustrum then it is not hardy so you will need to protect it in the winter from frost. The leaves dying could just be from change of location, if you have only had it for a few days then I would not be worried. There is nothing on the surface to be concerned about. How are you watering? You need to water when the soil is almost dry then water thoroughly with a rose on the can. Do not think about anything else until you know how to look after this plant.
