Hi there,

I am a new member and new to the bonsai tree experience, I bought both trees about 5 months ago and they were doing good until about 2 months in and then the leaves started getting yellow and crunchy, it keeps getting worse.

I will guess that the purpose of the upside down bottles is to keep the soil they are in soaking wet and that the roots are waterlogged and rotting. The dishes they are in probably help keep the roots too wet.

If they are kept inside that won't help, either.

Welcome latwood.

These bottles of fertilizer: Take them out. It is a very uncontrolled way to give a plant something which is not the first need.

As said by the previous poster. These plants need to be outside, and the subtrate should not be soaking wet. If these have been inside for a long time, start out with a shaded location, and over a period of 4 weeks allow more sun, untill full sun full day (assuming you are not in the middle of texas).

Odd, half the tree still look healthy. Put it outside and get the watering right, it might recover.

If it survives the summer, you can repot during the dormancy into less retentive soil. That Will make life easier.
