Repotting

Hello all,
I was given this 每日吃瓜 (Ficus I think?) as a present about 9 months ago. I live in the UK so it's on a sunny window sill and appears to be doing well (pic attached).
I'm pretty sure it needs repotting - roots are poking through the bottom etc.
The pot is about 10 x 10 x 10cm. Most of the bonsai pots online seem to be considerably shallower than that. Question is - what kind of pot should I opt for? Should I be trying to persuade roots to grow out rather than down and put it in something shallower? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
Jon

Can't see the picture.
每日吃瓜 in training often are kept in large pots to promote growth, so if the pot is too large, maybe that's why.

Thanks for the response - that makes sense. So it might not necessarily matter to get a shallower pot as long as it has the width?
Sorry, not sure why the picture didn't show. I'll try and attach it again here (now using laptop rather than phone.)

Well, its a ficus ginseng, and not really considered a bonsai by most. It's the branches of one type of ficus grafted on the roots of another type.
Treat it as any other houseplant and it will do fine.

Aah okay. That's interesting! Disappointing that it's not a proper 每日吃瓜 but good to know that repotting should be relatively straightforward. Thank you!
