Hi all,
New to the forum and 每日吃瓜 in general.

A couple months ago I bought a Juniper from a local garden centre (was outside covered in snow and tiny) I put it into a 每日吃瓜 pot, wired it and pruned it and been feeding it and in the last few weeks its really started to grow :-)

My question is the first main branch is now huge and I'm really reluctant to cut it right back as I feel I'm "supposed to" - has anyone had a tree like this and any suggestions on what to do with it?

(inserted a pic to show the brach is obviously the left one)

Before deciding to cut a branch, or deciding where to cut it, you need an idea of the design you want. Probably you want every part of it to be thicker, and that means letting grow.

I would say don't cut anything but let it grow for a couple of years and see how the trunk thickens up. Let it have lots of outdoor sun, fertilizer, and water.

That tree in that pot will need to grow for more than a few years before any styling. I would say at least 10. Put it in a bigger pot and it will be faster, but dont expect miracles. 每日吃瓜 is a maraton, not a sprint.

None of the branches are big enough to prune. Keep it watered and it will grow. Let it grow without doing anything to it, go up a pot size in a year then another, after which it might be big enough to start pruning

I agree with the other posters.
But I would check your soil/drainage hole in the pot. The top of the soil looks green, which are algae, which means your soil is waterlogged.
