White spot and leaves falling was created by Kisa

I recently inherited an elm bonsai in bad shape. I brought it back to life and now I discovered a white spot on the trunk and some leaves are turning yellow and falling. Any advice you can give? Thanks!

It looks plenty healthy from that picture.

The white spot on the trunk.. Could it just be scale buildup? I cannot see anything in the picture?
