Hello,

Im new to all of this, so i tried air layering, after 3 months of waiting this is the result i got. Im not sure if this is the root forming or some sort of mould, it kinda look like rot tissue, but it also smelled like sewer when i took nylon off. Picture attatched,

A bit more info on the when ,how and what part of that airlayer is needed. Obviously something went wrong, possibly because you did something not how it should have been done.

What did you use around the airlayer? Substrate? Soil? Moss?
Seems also very wet.

This is normal callussing of your airlayer. Take a knife. Cut a sliver (1mm?) off along the bottom of the callus. Add rooting hormone, cover up with substrate and wait a bit longer.

I ussed moss that had some earth already on it,i add rooting hormon, coverd with black plastic bag to prevent light coming in, and tightent with stretch foil. I did soak moss a lot, as i was afraid it would drieout and made a hole at the bottom to drain if it was too much water, i didnt touch it for 3 months, when i check it few days ago, moss was stil damp, not soaking wet. So is this a lsot cause, or should i wait some more. Species i traid layering are fraxinus, quercus, ostrya carpinifolia and sambucus nigra if that is of any help.
Thank you.
