brown leaves on juniper possible dog urine? was created by Buddup

Hello! I am new to bonsai care, my new Juniper tree, the leaves started going brown small areas at first, from the inside trunk out, first and bottom branches at the mo, up top is still blue green. Now whole branches are turning brown. Scratch test not good. Noticed a urine smell, this morning, possibly dog? Perhaps it is poisoned by urine? Should I repot and cut off seemingly dead branches? Any suggestions please, would be appreciated for best treating this juniper it it tall approx 63cm/25inches tall, 16 cm/6 inches wide at base, just over 50% from the bottom up has gone brown in the last week. Still green blue on the top section. We are in high humid showery weather here in SE QLD, the plant is getting a light filter with some direct sun and showers outside on a patio.

Repotting is usually not a tool to correct problems, unless it is extremely pot bound.

SE QLD = South East QueensLanD? Australia? If that is southern hemisphere then it should be growing new needles now and shedding some old. If it is down on the ground where dog urine is a possibility I would think get it high enough that dogs are not an issue. There are a lot of other things that can go wrong.

I have never seen a juniper getting hurt by dog urine. If they would take damage from dog urine my forest would be totally empty from junipers.

Just a friendly reminder. This is an international forum and not all understand local abreviations. I am in W VGR. Where am I?

Urine and organic fertilizer can indeed kill off conifer foliage. Parts of my front-graden hedge are along a path and the dog pee has killed several plants in the hedge. And I have once put my fertilizer on in a hurry and I ended up with brown patches in the foliage.
Give it a rinse and place higher where the dogs cannot repeatedly pee on it and see what that does.

I am in W VGR. Where am I?

West Virginia.

OK, I know that's wrong, but that was sort of the point.

Great, thanks for that, leatherback! That was helpful?! It has been rained on considerably, in between sunny times, and at the moment seems to have not increased in browning.I have relocated it off the ground level now, and is hovering at approx 50% green/blue on top and browny below. No fertilizer has be ern used, as I have only had it a few weeks from a nursery.
