I purchased this maple about two weeks ago off of Ebay. Since I received her, I have been placing her outside for 3-4 hours a day and water every other day. I've been afraid of watering it too much for fear of root rot, but I noticed it that I was getting dry so ive been watering again every day plus with a little liquid fertilizer. Is there any hope for her?

Do you mean you have taken it in each day? Why would you do that it needs to be outside all the time, never ever inside. You must not water to a schedule, water when almost dry. that may mean every day or as now the weather is changing to cooler days every two or even more days between watering. Stop the fertiliser, we are approaching autumn and the leaves will start to change and drop so fertiliser is not required. Buy a book and read up on how to look after this species and others.

Hi,

From the image, it looks like your maple tree is experiencing some stress, but it's not necessarily dying. Some leaves have started to curl or show discoloration, which could be caused by various factors such as:
  1. Watering Issues: Both overwatering and underwatering can cause leaf discoloration and wilting. Ensure you're watering appropriately, especially since the tree is in a pot where drainage is crucial.
  2. Soil Conditions: The soil might be lacking nutrients or not draining well. The presence of hard water could also be affecting the tree, as you mentioned with your Quercus.
  3. Pest Infestation: Check for any signs of pests, such as small insects or webs, which could be weakening the tree.
  4. Sunlight Exposure: Is the tree getting enough sunlight? Both too much direct sun or too little light can affect its health.

Consider adjusting watering habits, checking soil drainage, and possibly adding a mild fertilizer to see if the tree's condition improves. If the issue persists or worsens, it might be worth consulting an arborist or a specialist in bonsai care.
