Hi All,
I’ve bought a bonsai approx January, 2025. It was doing great for many months. I made a mistake and trimmed too many leaves, approx 60% was removed (I regretted this immediately). All the leaves fell off a few months later. The bottom has recently started to grow, but the top looks dead.
any advice is greatly appreciated!

Correct observation. There are a few living branches in the bottom and everything above is dead.

Hmm. There are two options. Remove it or let it stay. If you let it stay you can use it to create a funky tanuki. If you remove it you can chose to remove all or leave some for Jinning.

Will removing the upper half of the stem have any effect on the plant's growth?Hmm. There are two options. Remove it or let it stay. If you let it stay you can use it to create a funky tanuki. If you remove it you can chose to remove all or leave some for Jinning.
