Hi all, new here and just starting my 每日吃瓜 journey.
I'm in Perth West Australia.
I was gifted this 每日吃瓜 a week ago with no information on it's ID or how to care for it.
I notice there's a few brown needles on the lower branches so wondering if it's in the right location.? IE, bathroom north facing with 6hrs of morning filtered light daily.
All and any advice will be greatly received.
Thank you.?

It is a Needle Juniper and I hope you have it outside. The pot is far too big for this little plant, but you will have to leave changing the pot to next spring. There is nothing wrong with it at the moment, needles do die so it is normal. Just keep it watered and let it grow. Do not spray the needles!!! Water from the top.

Thanks for the ID. I can now research how to care for it.
Our temps here atm are 30-40 deg celcius, so to put it outside would I need to have filtered sun? Like 30-40% shadecloth?
It's getting bright filtered sunlight where it is so should I try leaving it there while it's so hot outside and take it out when the weather cools a bit.
Thanks again fro your reply.

I'm a bit wiser now.
I just watched a very informative video on the juniper bonsai and will be taking it outside tomorrow for full sun.
Luckily, your repy with ID may well have saved this tree from a very sad ending.
Awesome.
Thank you

Junipers thrive in full sun, if it has been inside somewhere I would put it into semi shade, morning sun afternoon shade for a week or two then full sun. Watch the watering, don't let it get too dry.

You are up for a dissapointment. Juniper hardiness zone is 6-9. You are in zone 10. While it may be possible for an experienced grower to keep it alive, it is not possible to make it thrive and develop. For a beginner, I forsee death within two years. Please do your best to prove me wrong.
Next time look for locally hardy species. Those readily awailable in local garden centers, species growing in gardens around you or native species are the best candidates.

Thanks for the heads up.
I will give it my best shot to keep it alive.
I now know the seller so will follow up with him for a bit of local advice.
Fortunately I'm retired and home most days.
is it ok for to post progressive photos from time to time on it's wellbeing.......or failure.
Thanks again?

It is useful that you know the seller. he must have been able to grow this species, so he may be able to help with cultivation. Post some followup picture by all by all means, it will be useful to know what happens.

I do not think this tree is produced in Perth. Possibly somwhere else in Australia, but most likelly imported.
Please, do not hesitate to post follow up pictures. We love to learn from others success or failures.
