I just received a bonsai, I think it’s a Ficus microcarpa but I don’t know. Pretty sure it’s sick,
20-30% of its leaves were dead / dying (extremely easy to pull off) or dropped themself. Many of the remaining leaves look sick: little white dots, cloudy whitish splotches, brown spots, and edge/tip deformation.?

It came in a ceramic container without any drainage holes, so I’m transferring it to a container with drainage holes, but I don’t think that’ll fix everything it has going on. No species or care info. I have blue + red led grow lights, are these appropriate? If so, for how many hours per day and at what distance? How often and how much to water? Plant food? Ideal soil??

I am by no means a plant pathologist but have seen some such things. It is a bit hard to tell the depth and texture of things in photos, so I say the following:
  1. I would say that getting drainage would be helpful as it will allow better access to air and allow flushing of waste.
  2. The browning of leaves is troubling but may be taken care of by improved drainage. The affected leaves will not un-brown but once new growth emerges, hopefully they will be cleared of it.
  3. On one of the leaves in your photos there are 3 small marks that look like they could be raised tissue - if so they may be insect galls or the like.
  4. Sometimes looking at the underside of the leaf will give you some clues - are there any telltale signs that may help you diagnose? For example, does the spot go completely through the leaf, or is it superficial?
  5. Some other leaves have cloudy spots. Are they "fuzzy" or "powdery"? If so, then I suspect that they are fungal. However, if they are more like fine salty deposits that can be washed off with water, then they may just be water spots from having had water drying on their surface.
  6. If the latter spots are more internal, then they may be chlorosis which may be indicative of nutrient deficiencies. Several mineral deficiencies can present as chlorotic spots.
Hope I am not too far off-base and this proves useful. I have attached pictures of the sections of leaves I referred to.
Best of luck.?
