I just received a Japanese maple tree and it is in a real small pot and I was thinking of putting it in a bigger pot but I don't know if this is the right time and if it will affect the tree.

It's kind of insulting that you made this post after I replied to your original one. I guess it's my fault for not telling you that it was too late for you to start a new post by then.

if you think that pot is small... just put it in a bigger one..

just google what bonsaiLearner said

or look on youtube for video's about repotting bonsai..

or.. just buy a bigger pot, put some substrate on the bottom, take the entire clump out of the small pot, place it in the bigger one, fill up with substrate..

it's hardly rocket science..

Ok, I get it. You're one of those "special" people that take a little longer than the rest.



I found that on the first page of Google by searching 'slip potting' and it tells you exactly what to do and why. It also explains loads of other methods of re-potting and when to do them.

I'm pretty sure that you didn't look up what I told you.
