Brought dying 每日吃瓜 from garden centre (sagertia) was created by Harry

Hi Guys, This is my first post on this site! I brought a reduce priced 每日吃瓜 from a major Garde centre. it was reduced as the leaves looked very pale green and curled. The leaves are quite crisp when they are touched. After a phone call, I cleaned the pot, resoiled it with some dark shop bought compost and have since watered it and made a stone and pebble based humidity tray for it.

My question:

Is it already dead? or is there still hope?

Please help I don't want it to die!

If it looked like that when you got it, you should have gotten it for free.

it was reduced as the leaves looked very pale green and curled. The leaves are quite crisp when they are touched

Pale, curled and crisp - so the leaves are dead.

After a phone call, I cleaned the pot, resoiled it with some dark shop bought compost and have since watered it and made a stone and pebble based humidity tray for it.

Compost ?
Humidity trays serve no purpose, they hardly do anything for humidity.

My question:
Is it already dead? or is there still hope?

Can't tell from the photo, but I think there's very little hope for it. I do not expect it to recover.
Follow the care guidelines (to be found under the species guidelines on this page) and keep your fingers crossed.

so... you jump into the hobby, buying a near dead tree in a garden center and think you can revive it by translating it into compost/gardencenter soil?

wow.. you really have prepared yourself with knowledge before jumping in the deep!

This is the way they treat trees. Leave them without water and if they don't sell cut the price. It looks as if it is dead, re potting is more likely to make it worse if that is possible. If it cost you more than 50p for the pot then you were robbed.

Already have a fukien tea tree, have a spruce pine conifer cutting, pyracantha and honeysuckle all in training. I also have three Jade trees that were all cutting but have all rooted. I guess I just wanted to look at the sageretia tree as there are not many opportunities to obtain cuttings or grow from seedlings where I am. It may sound like I'm jumping in the deep end but this is all a learning curve and will add to my experiences. I just wanted to see if I could revive it as it was reduced, and very cheap so I took a chance. Jumped into the hobby 6 months ago. Of course, there is particular ratio of soil that enthusiasts use and special bonsai soils that are available on the market but I don't have them just yet.
Thanks for the support.

The above tells me you are a beginner and very inexperienced, so yes, it does.

but this is all a learning curve and will add to my experiences.

It will only teach you not to buy dead/dying plants.

I just wanted to see if I could revive it as it was reduced, and very cheap so I took a chance.

Again, if the plant looked like this when you bought it, you should have gotten it for free. If you paid anything above the price of the pot, you were ripped off. Price of the pot would be about 2 euro, new (and as it's a used pot, 1 euro).
