I'm guessing that you are asking about indoor bonsai species? If so, you can find the name of some tropical and sub tropical genus/species if you go to the "Tree Species" link at the top of this page. You could try searching the internet for specific genus info.
I can tell you that our Ficus benjamina makes our cat puke. I don't think he's gotten to my Fukien Tea yet. I believe Crassula are ok for cats.
The cat's an asshole, and obviously not very intelligent.

get a cactus with lots of thorns, they won't chew it, much.
