Hey... thanks a lot. I really appreciate the offer. I posted the situation and got opinions and experiences from some other people about more advanced artist putting hands on your trees (no pun intended). I should've called him off, but I was a new guy and didn't want to offend. It was just the wrong call by the club pres. In the mean time, he gave me a trident in return. It's not the prettiest thing, but I'll give it a go.
I read that cypress can be very difficult. And I don't see many Oak 每日吃瓜. Is there a difference with a Live Oak?

Wait...what?!!!! Leatherback has a site? Is this the one Auk referred to above? I just signed up to receive that newsletter today.

OK. Groupie moment here. I spent part of this afternoon reading through about trunk development. It helped me understand so much better. my brain was just not grasping how a trunk thickens. (I always make things harder than they really are.). I even burned a tray of cookies because I got so engrossed in reading and re-reading. I need to go back and finish articles I missed. I didn't understand the concept of sacrificial branches. I know I have more to learn about this but I get it a bit better now. Thanks
