How about never?
Misting is an odd practice that somehow has seeped into houseplant care.

There is a houseplant that is a breed of orchid that grows on tree trunks in the air whose roots don't go into soil but sit out in extremely humid rain forest air. I had one about 50 years ago. Since there was no dirt there was no pot and in non rain forest environments misting was how it got its water. I don't remember how long it lasted.

Misting became known as a substitute for watering.?

Misting is supposed to raise the humidity, and it does until the wind blows or the central heat/air comes on. It is not a replacement for watering, unless you stand there with the spray bottle half an hour misting until water comes out of the holes in the pot.
