Leaving just 2 branches out of the whole lot on the pic, and with such an extreme bend ....
Fingers crossed, hopefully it makes it by some miracle - they happen occassionally - byt if I judge by my experience - it is dead.

So after being told the tree was dead or likely to die, i continued to nurture it and dismiss the idea it was dead.

I have LIFE! Candles are extending and some needles have appeared from a broken candle.

I plan to leave this tree this year to grow out freely before i do some more styling next year (2021)

Of course it is alive. Why would'nt it be. It was a healthy pine in its container.

I am more concerned that you did not bend the lower part of the trunk. That is way to straight for the bends higher up, to my taste.

One of the previous posters above was pretty adamant it was a gonner!

The straight section you mentioned will be a part of the vision i have for this tree going forward, my main issue was creating he bend in what was a dead straight tree. Now that seems it appears to have survived this initial styling, I can progress it further next year.

So candles have been getting longer and some on the other branch have pushed correctly, but on a lot of the candles on both branches they needles still have their sheaths up and appear to be in a coating, I'm probably not describing it properly but please see the pictures.

Is this normal? On my other pines its all extended properly and green etc. Can this be corrected so the needles elongate properly or do I just leave it?
