I just cannot understand where you want to go with this tree. What style are you aiming at?

Anyhow, in first initial styling it is advideable to keep the small branches and prune the heavy ones for proportion. Here it seems like you did the oposite. And that branch crossing at the left side in the photo. Normally viewed as a big flaw in bonsai.

But as always, if you are happy with the result yourself it is a successful styling. You are the creator and the artist, your own taste is the only thing that matters. Just do not put it into a show.

semi-cascade is what i was originally going for. i was more or less going with the natural flow of the tree. although there is lots of wiring, there was not a lot of heavy bending on my part.

I would remove this leggy branches where I marked, they're messing it.
That lower one is crossing into the trunk line, and that top one is of no use...

What you could do is let an inch or two of them as "jins"

I agree with Tropfrog, it seems like there were a lot more there that you could keep, also I wouldn't have removed from the big pot yet, I would spend a few years training there, it would give you better responses on the interventios...
