I cannot believe I never shared this tree here.

A good three years ago I was able to get a tree, almost dead, for a few euro's. I decided to take a gamble, and brought it home.

A few months later, I had repotted the tree, and the tree was hit by spider mites. As a result, the top dropped. In the greenhouse it went. Spring time 2013.

In and out of the garden, andd we reach spring 2014, when I first carved the cut-down stump.

Winter 2014/15 I defoliated and wired the whole thing

The tree got massive. Was the the trunk always that thick? It looks like it was way thinner on the first picture

It got a lot shorter, which illustrates the effect of chopping down!

That's awesome. How long after you re potted, did you fertilize? (If you remember)
And how long after you drop chopped, did you wire?

I'm contemplating chopping my Ficus and start to train it. I've had for over 12 years and I'm a little nervous about stressing it out and killing it. I've done some small trimming and it bounced right back.
How often to you feed yours during the summer months?

Whenever I feertilize my other trees. Normally maybe every two weeks? And a handfull of chicken pellets whenever lots of rain are expected.

Loving summer!
Branches have started their real growing now. Just a littl bit longer till I have to defoliate and wire again. . Soon. So soon!
