Hello,
I’m looking for a wider range of opinions, particularly from azalea growers. As spring approaches, I’ve been searching for suitable soil options to repot my pre-bonsai azaleas, but haven't had much luck in my area. I'm considering using a mix of NAPA #8822 Floor Dry, pine bark fines, and crushed granite or zeolite or pumice in a 1:1:2 ratio.
My main concern is the Floor Dry, which is 100% diatomite and reportedly has a pH of 7 or higher. I'm worried it might lock out nutrients for my azaleas and harm them. However, since I'm also incorporating pine bark, which breaks down over time, I hope it will be okay. I plan to use an acidic azalea fertilizer and possibly chelated iron to help balance the pH further.
I would greatly appreciate any insights or suggestions you have. I really want to ensure the health of these wonderful plants!

You should be better off replacing the diatomite based floor sanitizer to a moler based one. It is much lower in ph and should be possible to find in most part of the world. The red moler is also used in the sanicat pink cat litter, comonly sold in USA, but extreamly hard to find in Europe.?
