Just let it adapt to your environment and care. Do not do anything until it has been growing healthy at least one full season.

I buy most of my trees in authum sale. So the trees purshased in 2025 will not be touched until earliest spring 2027. But I still have trees bought 5 years ago that are not yet worked on. The tree do not harm from beeing left alone.

Health always comes first.? There are no pride in a dead tree.

The best thing to do is find a club and attend meetings.? Talk to people there. Take the tree to meetings and find someone to discuss it. We have monthly workshops here, and go to those to see what people actually do working on trees.?

I would put the tree in the sun and let it grow for a year or two.

Ivan is in USA. I am in Sweden.

Just check with your national bonsai organization, they should be able to tell you where your nearest club is.

I would think this is the one for you?:

You can search here in the Empire site for bonsai clubs in the United Kingdom and fid a large number of clubs.

Thank you both, I have had a look and I have a couple of clubs fairly nearby. I will try and get over to one the meetings soon - hopefully my trees will be in good health and growing by then. I think I became over excited and a little obsessive in checking the trees. I'm now just checking when they need watering and leaving them be apart from that. I found myself thinking about bonsai way too much before!

We have all been there and we totally understand how the excitement from a beginner can slowly strangle a tree to death. The most efficient way to deal with that is to get more trees. That way your excitment spread out over more individuals and do not harm that much. :)
