I think most people here would worry about the cat killing the tree, rather than the tree killing the cat...
Sorry, but I think you're looking for a decorative plant that is non-poisonous, not for a bonsai.

I also doubt your cat would chew on a poisonous plant; cats are pretty smart. But play it safe!

You could also try feeding the cat then it so it was not hungry and will leave them alone,

I could have guessed someone would take that too literally.
I have a cat, and I do not worry about it getting killed by any of my trees at all. The little rascal does like to jump of the roof, onto the bonsai stand, in between my trees. I love cats and their agility and up till now it has never gone wrong, but the change of my cat tipping over a tree and damaging it is there. The chance of one of my trees killing the cat is non-existant.
Now read my post again.

I have no issues with any of my cats vs. my bonsai. They usually just attack flowers. If anything, they use my bonsai wintering bed for a litter box every now and again, and the dogs, same thing. I think, as long as you're keeping bonsai outdoors, as most trees should, the cats will have more stimuli to amuse them than the bonsai. If you're looking to keep indoor plants and the cat's going to go for it anyway, a cheap decorative houseplant would be the way to go.

I think our cat reads this forum... now, is this a cat-friendly bonsai or not ?
