I use neem oil for any issues I have, I do not spray just because I can, only if needed. If your trees are healthy and growing well this is the best way to keep problems away. I do not use any chemical if I can avoid it and so far I have not. My trees are fine, I get Aphis in the spring sometimes, but neem oil takes care of that.

What? you need to do is put a drop f wasingup liquid in some luke warm water. then add the neem oil about a teaspoon and mix. The neem oil tends to be quite thick and you need to get it to liquify, then either spray or water on the plant. Buy the cheapest you can find there is no difference as it is not made for this purpose, don't buy any that is supposed to be for horticultural use as it is three times the price and no different. It does not work quickly, so don't expect instant results, but once it does work it is good.

I water with a spray attachment on the hose and usually hit the leaves pretty well,? and that washes a lot of bugs off. I am not completely anti-pesticide but I very rarely have a problem that I can't solve with the hose and fingers. The last time I used a pesticide outdoors was on a tree with new growth covered with aphids, probably at least ten years ago.
When the tropicals come inside for the winter it is a different thing. I can't spray them down and some years the bugs are a problem. Then I will put a general systemic on the soil. That doesn't bother me too much because we want the indoors pest free.

standard mix, 1 litre water 1-2 teaspoons neem oil 1/2 teaspoon mild liquid soap warm water shake until mixture is milky. Spray all leaves, be careful with conifers, use half strength spray in the evening or early morning to avoid leaf burn. Repeat every 2-3 weeks if necessary.
